Ashley and I were texting back and forth about their upcoming engagement session when I asked if she had a preference on location or feel of her session. Her response – We don’t care, we just wanna have fun with you.
When winter hits photo sessions slow down. There are a few here and there but often there are long periods of time without sessions. It’s definitely not summer with a several sessions a week. Since the end of January I haven’t picked up my camera much. And that first session back really gets me extra nervous. I’m nervous before every session. I think it’s good. If I wasn’t nervous each time, I think then I’ve lost touch with being a creative and growing in my craft.
The nerves were really getting to me before Ashley & Clinton’s engagement session. I haven’t done a shoot in a while, beating myself up over it. It’s late winter/early spring. It’s ugly, it’s all brown. Where are we gonna go. What am I gonna do?! They drove 8 hours for this. I don’t want to disappoint. On and on.
And then….. I was brought back to my last text from Ashley. We just wanna have fun with you.
That’s it. It doesn’t matter where we go. Or how long it’s been since my last session. Let’s just have some fun and live it up. Stop overthinking it. Thank you, Ashley. It was exactly what I needed to hear.
And we had some fun. Trying to walk on the snow without breaking through and wet up to our knees. Harassing people interrupting a kissing scene. Falling down the side of hills. Running through the woods. A few hikes here and there. Finding short cuts. And my killer reverse driving. Fun? CHECK! The best part, it shows in every single image. Love you two. Can’t wait til your wedding in August!
