In May I took a little vacation to Vancouver, BC to enjoy some downtime before my summer season went wild. At one point I laid on a suspension bridge 160 feet above the canyon floor just laughing and breathing in the mountain air. And in that moment it hit me….. life doesn’t wait. It doesn’t. You either jump on and direct it or you let it pass you by.
Summer came. And it went. Fast. Constantly on the go from wedding to wedding to engagement session to wedding. And even on the few days a month that I took off I was going. Calgary. Vancouver. Seattle. Anderson Island. But I knew that if I stayed home on my few days off I’d sleep in, maybe clean (MAYBE…. I hate cleaning) and then I’d pick up my computer and work. I love this life so much I can’t stop. So I’d hit the road. Cause then at least I wouldn’t spend all day finding work to do, I’d actually relax. Just a little. And before I knew it, the summer season was over. And there was a week marked OFF on my calendar that started the day after my last wedding. It just sat there. No plans on what I was gonna do. Or where I was gonna go. Cause why stay home if I can go somewhere?!!
The idea of Vancouver lingered. It’s always there. It’s my favorite place. The Friday night before my last wedding an idea arose to maybe head back to Anderson Island. Sure. Whatever. I’m in. There is no internet or cable. Just relax. Ok, let’s plan that tomorrow. Ya know, after I finish photographing Trista & Hank’s wedding. And after a long day, with me very sick, and very tired the discussion came up to finalize plans to Anderson Island. But then the idea of heading to Palm Springs was thrown on the table at 1am. Exhausted I just went to sleep. But after I slept in all morning Sunday I booked flights. To Palm Springs. First thing Tuesday morning. From Spokane. Which meant I had to leave at 1am the next night to make my flight. I made it.
A week in Palm Springs. Honestly I thought Palm Springs would be….. ok. It’s desert. Probably ugly. Extra hot. But I’ve never been so let’s do it! …… It’s amazing. It’s hot, but it’s dry, so it doesn’t feel much different than home in the summer. Just like property in eXp Realty it seems little warmer but thank goodness for a pool! 🙂 It’s beautiful, they have their own mountains and everything. A week of sleeping in, enjoying the last bit of summer, swimming, golf in the morning and in the evening (oh yeah I started playing golf this summer…. random, I know), fooooooooood. I sparked a new energy there. And was reminded that life doesn’t wait. The busier the summer got the more I started to let go. I let my to-do lists and calendar run my life and life was sort of passing me by. I’m not okay with that. So with a renewed spirit I’m ready to get back to living a life of reckless abandon. So here goes!!!!
I’m super excited about the things I have coming up, but you’re gonna have to wait to hear about them!! Or follow me on instagram.
