I walked into the most chill relaxed getting ready session EVER. Kacy & Delaney are so laid back and go with the flow. I love it. They opted to not have a bridal party. Kacy’s sister, Jodi, was there all morning to stand by each of them and take care of them & she crushed it. They have spent the better parts of their lives at Christina Lake, BC it only made sense to get married there. They had asked a special family friend from Alberta to officiate their wedding. When they found out he couldn’t legally officiate them in British Columbia they did the only thing that made sense….. Two ceremonies!
After getting ready they met each other by the lake for a moment alone. And then their parents joined them for a short quick legal ceremony. The original plan had been to have the ceremony out on the dock, but the wind came through and the waves would make you think we were on the ocean, not the lake. Kacy’s parents moved everything to shore but just before starting Kacy’s dad asked her if she wanted to brave it out there. Her response….
“Ah what the hell, let’s do it!”
It was beautiful. Simple. Intimate. The waves crashed and the mountains protected them.
Then we were onto ceremony number 2 where their family friend could officiate with the legal stuff outta the way and celebrate their 7 years together (and at least a hundred more to come!) with 60 of their closest friends and fam. A day where we thought it might rain the sun came out. We ran around the lake with Kacy’s sister to enjoy it and photograph them in some sweet locations. Followed by one heck of a dinner and a proper ice cream sundae bar.
It was amazing and almost ended in all of us crying as we didn’t want it to end. Kacy & Delaney you are the best!!! Thank you for entrusting me with the great privilege of photographing your wedding day. We all know I love a good trip to Canada!
XOXO
