I don’t even know where to start. Kauai just kinda happened. Meg was headed to Kauai and asked me to come with her, a much needed girls trip. I rearranged some things in my schedule and booked a ticket there. One way. Initially I was considering a flight home on Thursday. But, maybe, Friday. Maybe. Yeah. I got on a plane at 11:55pm on Saturday. Kauai was THAT good. The only way to start a trip in Hawaii is on the beach with some drinks, quick dips in the ocean. And I learned how to surf!!!!! That was on my bucket list. Thanks to Meg’s family friend ‘Skiz’ for helpin’ a girl out. So fun to stop and watch him catch a few waves. Well to him this is nothing. He’s a big wave surfer. I’m still just trying to fathom how the wall of a wave can get 40+ ft high. HOW?! So stoked and can’t wait to get back in the water. Even though I’m afraid of sharks, ha! Then we spent a day on the North Shore. Kauai has mountains my friends. So amazing up there. We went for a swim and then hiked out the beginning of the Kalalau trail to catch the sunset. The rain came down and cooled us off. It’s surreal to be in such an incredible place, with it so warm, and to have the rain just come down. Clouds with a sunset…. so sick! And then we ran down as fast as we could in the dark since we waited for the sun to set 3 miles in on the hike. Adventure is always waiting. After another day at the beach we decided why not just go out to Polihale, take a swim, start a fire, eat, drink, heck why not sleep there?! So we set up camp. By that I mean a blanket and pillow under the stars. But waking up and then sitting up and seeing the waves rolling in. Amazing. Then came days of rain. And honestly rain ain’t so bad when it’s warm. Other than after one day of running and playing Meg and I went through all of our clothes. Everything wet. Why we continued to change every time we got wet…. who knows, haha. Next time we’ll just stay in bikinis and towels. I just love that the rain doesn’t bother Meg. We just keep doing as we’re doing. Just living. Just having fun. And then Halloween happened. Halloween morning I was certain I was out. I’m not doing Halloween and definitely not drinking! 20 minutes later I decided that ok I’ll just have a beer, and then some water, a beer, then some water. And maybe we’ll go out on Halloween. Maybe. Cause if we do what are we gonna dress up as?! And 20 minutes after that I was organizing beer so we could easily have access to it throughout the day and we were off to buy plaid shirts to dress up as lumberjacks. At least we’d be buying something we wanted outside of Halloween. And Meg DETESTS Halloween. But she can’t lie she had fun dancing up and down the dark streets with the bose speaker blaring our Kauai playlist. So fun. Oh and Skiz… yeah he was a hillbilly or something. We cut his shirts for him HA! Every day included friends, roadtrips around the island, seafood, and a ridiculous amount of laughing and always ended with a drink while watching the sunset. We just spent each moment trying to have fun. Running toward the next fun adventure. I didn’t realize until I had left how desperately I needed that trip. So carefree and impulsive. My energy has been renewed. Thank you Kauai! And thank you Meg for inviting me and taking and sharing a million photos. On my trip to Vancouver a few weeks ago my phone took a swim in the ocean and the camera doesn’t work. Well the front camera works, sorta, sometimes, crappily. So all of our images are a mix from my camera, Meg’s camera, GoPro, Megs phone, maybe one or two from my phone. Thanks girl. Can’t wait til we go back!!!!!!
