My business cards say ‘Dare to do epic shit.’ And mother of all things holy….. these two did. Chris messaged me months ago saying him and Becky were eloping and wanted wedding photos in Montana on some kind of hike. Both of us had thought Iceberg Lake in Glacier National Park would be sick since they were already going to be up there. So it was decided. Photos in Many Glacier and hike up to Iceberg Lake.
Honestly I never asked about what they were wearing. It just didn’t really occur to me until the few days before. I just assume all of my clients are the shit… cause they are. These two eloped in Texas just before coming to Glacier but wanted their wedding photos here. Just never know with an elopement, some are as simple as can be and others are an elopement yet still all out. I was just hoping Becky would at least wear a summer or dress or pack one in a backpack to change into up at the lake. Then I walked into the hotel Tuesday morning to a couple fully dressed up in suit and dress. YES!!! I thought they might change before we got on the trail and they quickly answered “Nooooo!!! These are our wedding photos. Maybe we’ll change our shoes, but we’re going up in this.” I died. Right there.
We started with photos in Many Glacier, stopped at the store to fill our backpack with some snacks and the biggest jug of water available and began our trek. SO MUCH FUN!!! It’s not a real strenuous hike just 5 miles in and another 5 out 😉 Stopping to take photos along the way. Laughing at the comments they received the first 2 miles… people didn’t believe we could do it or make it. But after 2.8 miles people became more excited and positive as we passed them. We were gonna make it no problem. And the many many people sneaking photos of them with their phones, what are they going to do with those photos later?!! Who knows. And of course we did make it.
Without hesitation they said they’d get in the water to get on an iceberg. Chris and I waded in to try and pull one as close to the shore as we could and dear sweet baby jesus that water is cold. The worst was actually getting out of it back into the heat! Also moving icebergs…. yea. Haha. Becky didn’t step in until she had to so she couldn’t talk herself out of it and she was a champ, jumping up on this block of ice for some incredible images.
Then we spent a little time relaxing there, changing clothes, and then climbing back on icebergs. Cause…. why wouldn’t we?! And then a leisure 5 mile walk back to the car and out to dinner!
I’m so grateful for you Chris & Becky!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for one of the best experiences of my life. Such a privilege to spend the day with you, exploring, and daring to do epic shit.
XOXO
Also a HUGE thank you to my girl, Taliah, who made it down to Montana this last week and came along for the fun and helping with photos. You’re the best!
