I was 13 years old. My father had recently passed. My mom, my sister, and I were just trying to pick up the pieces of life and move forward. We moved to a new town. A small one. My mom dropped me off at the front doors of the school. Didn’t walk me in. She took care of my little sister that morning. So I made my way down the sidewalk and into the office to find out where I was supposed to be. Within 10 minutes of being there and getting my schedule Amber walked in. Tall and breathtakingly beautiful. The secretary asked her to show me around even though she had come to the office for something entirely different. She didn’t just show me around we became great friends, almost instantly. I was accepted into their crew no questions asked. It was pivotal during that part of my life. I’m so grateful for that group of people.
Within the year I left for boarding school and graduated high school early. When I came back I was taking college classes and all of my friends were finishing their senior year. Amber was crushing it with pageants and cheerleading that I actually don’t even remember seeing her my first semester of college. And then I transferred out. Facebook was just getting its start in those days haha. And thankfully because of it we’ve kept in touch and followed each others lives for the last FIFTEEN YEARS!!!!!
A few years ago she met David. And my gosh are they perfect for each other. They’re as sweet as ever, not just to each other but to everyone they come in contact with. Which became evident as I walked the streets of San Francisco with them and what seemed like everyone knew them by name. A few months ago Amber reached out and asked me to be their wedding photographer and I about died. It’s such an honor to be asked by anyone but it’s on another level when a childhood friend comes and asks. So last weekend I flew out to San Francisco to catch up with my long lost friend, meet David, snuggle the love out of their french bulldog and photograph them for their engagement session.
I’m obsessed with these photos. One of my favorite sessions ever. Amber & David, thank you SO much for introducing me to SF & inviting me into your home. I cannot wait to return to northern Cal in a few months for their wedding and the reunion of a lifetime with the friends I first got drunk with! We have some good stories to go around 😉
XOXO!
