Last week I headed off on vacation with my 3 year old to West Virginia to see my mom. I have come to think that there are a couple different types of vacationers: The Quality Timer and The Experiencer. I’m definitely an experiencer. Can’t sit still, gotta get up, go go go, see things, experience things. Now my side of the family isn’t really that way. They like to go to spot, and just relax, enjoy the vacation time. The Time to relax and get away. I decided this trip I was going to try to be a quality timer. Just hang out my moms house in the middle of nowhere. Sleep in. Read. Chill. Aside from sleeping in, the rest was a success. Truthfully. It was strange. Different than usual. There is this hunger for more. I wish I had done more. I don’t know what. But just more!
But at the same time. It was what I needed. For sure. Time for me. Time for Cattie. Slowing down to see life a little differently. It was really good. But I am glad to be home…. if only I could have slept in this morning.
Today is a day full of to-do’s. A week away from internet that works and cell phone service leaves me a very long list. Joe is in surgery for his ACL today which leaves me sitting in this very quiet lobby all morning. And it’s turning out to possibly be the best workspace to get stuff done.
Now to work on the upcoming vacations. I’m excited to get back to being an experiencer 🙂 I think I find relaxation in getting out there and doing something new. Am I crazy? Is this crazy talk right now? Do these categories exist? Do you fit into one? Experiencer? Quality Timer?
Maybe I should drink more coffee. And since spring is more in bloom out east than here I have to share some spring action 🙂
