Wait what type of photographer am I?

I'm Jackie

Traveling wedding photographer + photography/small biz educator.

Mesmerized by the way two people love each other, each so uniquely.  I always leave room for dessert. Believe swear words are just sentence embellishers. Think indulgences are necessary in this life.

hey hey

Parties with all the best people in their lives.

Love stories in all forms without the white dress... or maybe they wore white, it happens.

Just my little thoughts on different topics of planning your wedding day big party or just you two.

Stories of two lovers making it all about them, as they should.

Let me be honest here real quick… I SUCK AT BLOGGING!  F’reals.  What happened to making a change with blogging this year and doing it more often?  I have no idea.  Clearly I need a better blog workflow.  If you have one and you want to share I’d love you and send you jelly beans.  It is jelly bean season 😉

Anyways on from there 😉 So lately I’ve been seeing and possibly participating in conversations that at some point something is said like ‘I’m a digital photographer’ or ‘I’m a print photographer’ this has had me thinking lately.  I mean what does that really mean? And what if I offer digital collections and still offer prints… well then what am I?! Where do I fit in… do I even fit in? lol

Let’s be real.  What photographer doesn’t love prints? There is something so special about putting in the order of your images to be printed on that lovely quality paper and finish from your favorite lab, then matting and framing it and knowing it’s being treasured on your clients wall.  Or even better in my opinion a canvas order!  It’s seriously one of the best feelings ever and I don’t know any photog who doesn’t want their work on their clients wall.  But at the end of the day it’s my CLIENTS wall. Not mine.  And as much as I would love to see it on their wall, I want them to have what they want.

It’s a fact, you attract people who are like you.  Which means because I focus more on my business being unique and about me than what products I offer I attract people like me. Which is AWESOME!  We connect right away, we can relate to one another, and from that we build a relationship… a friendship!  Which, for the record, is one of the top 5 most important things I think we as photographers should do.  The power of building a relationship with your client will take you SO far! I was a bride before I was a photographer.  I know what I wanted as a bride.  I know what I wanted as a mom.  My client is similar to me. And I choose to cater to my client.  My client wants digital collections, but that doesn’t mean they don’t want prints and products.  Especially seniors, they always want prints!  And I offer them what they want.

But as we continue to move forward in this digital age people want to share, share, share.  Yes they still want a couple in their homes. But we want them on FB to share with family across the world, or on their computers, iPads, phones.  Remember back in the day when our parents would carry little wallet sized images of us in their wallets?  How many people do that now?  Our wallets sit in our pockets and purses and so do our phones where we can store hundreds of photos to share in the moment.  I’m all about embracing this. Cause I’m one of those that pulls out my phone, computer, or iPad to share some images. It’s convenient.  And truly there isn’t anything wrong with it.

I still believe in the power of a print. As a matter a fact I KNOW the power of print first hand.  My father passed when I was 12 years old.  My daughter knows who he is because of photos.  My younger sister was so young that unless she looks at a photo she can’t remember what he looked like. Such an important and influential person in our lives is remembered and remains to be such through photos. So as long as I can make a print order I’ll be offering prints.

If you haven’t had a good print made in a while, now is the time.  Go through all of those digital image files on your computer, pull up 3 that make your heart pitter patter, bring a smile to your face and get them up on your wall.  Allow yourself to smile at the walls in your home every day!

I’m still unsure where I fit in with this digital or print photographer business and combining the words doesn’t come out how I want so I’m not going there 😉 But I do know that through the end of March I’m now offering 30% off prints. And Canvases. AND!!!!! Plywerk!  Click here to check these out.  These are super fun, modern, and oh-so-nice on the wall.  I’m kinda lovin’ them more than a canvas so you bet your sweet cookies I’m offering them and giving you 30% off! AW YA!

Because EVERY post should include a photo or 30, this one, it makes my heart pitter patter 😉
